Shiatsu
(Japanese acupressure therapy)
Shiatsu is a Japanese massage treatment, closely related to acupuncture. It
works with the energy flow of the body to relieve symptoms of ill heath. Pressure
and stretches are applied along the energy pathways, to release tension and
correct imbalances in the internal organs.
Treatment is deeply relaxing and has an overall calming effect, so allowing
the body's self-healing processes to work more effectively.
Common conditions which can be helped with shiatsu include
· Digestive problems
· Menstrual Problems
· Headaches and migraine
· Asthmatic symptoms
· Back, shoulder and neck pain
· Depression
It is performed through clothing, on a padded mat (futon) on the floor. It is
important to wear loose, comfortable clothing such as a tracksuit.
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is an enjoyable and relaxing treatment. Essential oils are chosen
for your individual needs, and are applied through massage. The oils are absorbed
through the skin, and travel via the circulation to all parts of the body.
Aromatherapy is often helpful for
· Stress and tension
· Tiredness and insomnia
· Anxiety
· Muscular aches and pains
· Pregnancy and childbirth
You don't have to be ill to benefit from aromatherapy! Many people experience
an increase in energy and well-being after a course of treatment.
Aromatherapy massage is given on a couch. You will be fully covered with towels
throughout the treatment. You can choose to have a full body treatment, or a
back, neck and facial massage.
