The Ramparts Project

Berwick came to international notice on the contemporary art scene in 1996 with The Ramparts Project.

For "Year of the Visual-Arts" Berwick Walls were the setting for a number of installations by artists -- ranging from the well-established Dan Graham to comparative newcomers such as Siobhan Davies.

Of the artists represented Tacita Dean has received most notice subsequently, being recently short-listed for the Turner Prize.
