Thomas Sword Good



Far the best known local artist of the early 19th century was Thomas Sword Good (1789-1872). Good lived much of his life at no.21 Quay Walls, where a plaque has been put up. He did paint a few portraits but specialized in scenes of fishing folk on desolate coasts.

Marrying a rich spinster in 1839 he gave up painting.
