The Arts In Berwick -- Natural History
Berwick Borough Museum

Founded in 1867, the Borough Museum was originally devoted exclusively to natural history.

Its first collection were the specimens collected by Dr.Johnston and other members of the Berwickshire Naturalists Club. In 1881 the collections were re-housed in a specially built edifice in the High Street.

Taken over by the town council in 1927, by 1970s the stuffed birds and animals were infested with mites and were destroyed. In 1985 the Museum moved to the Barracks and the surviving natural history collection relocated to modern storage units.
