The
Arts In Berwick -- Other Narratives
Modern
Writers
Local authors include the romantic novelist 'Anne Hepple' (i.e.A.H.Dickinson,
1877-1959) who lived in Castle Terrace, Berwick.
Modern authors setting stories on Holy Island include TV writer Gordon
Honeycombe, better known for the series London's Burning. In his "Dragon
under the Hill" (1972) the Island's ancient past casts a sinister
shadow over a boy's holiday with his family.
Seal Story (1979) by Kathleen Fidler is a tale of an ingenious nine year
old who saves a seal pub. There is a lot of detail of the close-knit island
community.
