Bobby's Girl
One of the first Berwickers to make a name for herself in the pop world
was Susan Maughan, who got to no.3 in the charts in October 1962 with
"Bobby's Girl." The following year she had modest success with
"Hand a Handkerchief to Helen" and "She's New To You".
The Beatles even came to Berwick, staying one night at the King's Arms
in conditions of the greatest secrecy, only revealed in the following
week's paper.
