The
Arts In Berwick -- Film
Berwick on film
Berwick got its first permanent cinema at the Playhouse in Sandgate in
1920s and part of the programme in the early days was locally shot newsreels.
One or two amateur film makers have shot stories around the Borough, but
mostly professional film-makers have sought locations at Bamburgh or on
Holy Island.
In 1980 a film-school graduation piece was shot here about a woman returning
to her home-town, which was also the theme of One More Kiss, directed
by Vadim Jean in 1999. Featuring many local people in supporting roles,
it made good use of the local townscape and countryside.
