Algernon Swinburne and his sisters

Son of an old Northumberland family Swinburne (1837-1909) spent much of his childhood on the Isle of Wight. In his youth though he roamed the Northbumberland coast and countryside. His mature poetry, especially that on Arthurian themes, evokes the northern landscape.
