Historic and Artistic Regeneration
By the end of the 1960s much of the historic townscape was in urgent need
of repair and revitalisation. In 1972 the Town
Preservation Trust was established and together with the Civic Society,
founded in 1977, has spearheaded the restoration of Berwick's historic
environment.
