Bamburgh Castle Hall

By the late 19th.Century Bamburgh Castle was little more than a patched up ruin. It had been by turns a girl's school and coast guard lookout, but in 1894 Lord Armstrong bought the Castle and began turning it into a suitably baronial residence.

In style it looks internally more Tudor than Gothic and this is similar to other noble Victorian houses built further inland at, for example, Longridge (1878) and Tillmouth Park (1882).
